The next meeting on the EU-Azerbaijan political dialogue was held in Brussels on the level of the EU Committee for Policy and Security on 3 December.
According to the press service of the Azerbaijani embassy in Belgium and Luxembourg, Azerbaijan was represented by the head of the Mission of Azerbaijan to the EU, Ambassador Fuad Iskandarov, and EU by Chairman of the EU Committee for Policy and Security Walter Stevens.
During the meeting U.Stevens spoke about regional security issues and the role of Azerbaijan in the South Caucasus
In turn, the ambassador F.Iskandarov provided detailed information about the negotiation process on the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, stressed the need to resolve the conflict in accordance with the norms and principles of international law. The diplomat noted the importance of the EU position on this matter.
F.Iskandarov also informed about the political situation in Azerbaijan and socio- economic reforms undertaken in the country.
The sides discussed the prospects of development of relations between the EU – Azerbaijan .
This was followed with a joint working lunch attended by representatives of other South Caucasus states, during which there was an exchange of views on regional developments and other issues.
